Meridian ID Dental Care Financing Options

Insurance has changed dramatically over the years. In 1965, only 2 million people had dental insurance. Today, dental insurance is a fringe benefit offered by employers to more than 33 million people.

Many people are making decisions about their dental health and tailoring their care around their dental plan. Sometimes, instead of helping, this dependence on insurance prevents them from getting the care they need, complicates existing problems, and ends up costing people more money and time in our dental chair.

To prevent this from happening, we would like to offer a few guidelines when it comes to dealing with your insurance.

Dental insurance is designed to help you pay for the services you need.

Dental Financing Meridian IDMany patients are under the impression that insurance will cover 80% to 100% of their fees. In reality, most dental plans cover 40% to 50% of an average fee. That’s because insurance is designed to make extensive dentistry more affordable for you, not cover your entire costs. Be warned that insurance companies may tell you a standard service is “above the usual and customary.”

The insurance companies may tell you that a service is not necessary when it really is. In fact, some preventive procedures are not covered by insurance companies at all. If this happens, talk to us. We can suggest financing options to help you.

Even if you think you know your benefits, read your policy.
Before you visit us, review your policy so you’ll be aware of any limitation of your benefits. Many patients are surprised to learn what’s not covered by their insurance carriers.  Be sure to stay up to date on your policy.  There are times that your benefits will change depending on the kind of plan your employer selects. After your visit, we accept most insurance plans. We’ll even fill out the forms and submit the claims as a service to you.

An Alternative to Dental Insurance

If your employer does not provide you with dental insurance or if it is a benefit you have to pay for yourself – consider this.  Advantage Dental Center provides a Dental Savings Plan.  With this plan you will pay an enrollment fee to receive savings on Cleanings, Fillings, Crowns, Extractions, Implants and even Orthodontia.  Contact our office at 208-884-0888 for more information.
